Youth players in North Austin and Cedar Park have an open play opportunity at the Cedar Park Library. Sunday from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm for all ages and all levels of players.The group focuses on improving skills through contact with better players. Parents, children, students, and adults who enjoy teaching and playing are welcome. Sets and boards are provided, but you may bring your own equipment. Please bring clocks and notation sheets if you wish to use them.
There is no fee for participation in the group.

Checkmate Kids Chess Club (USCF Affiliate) is a casual come-and-go setting for kids and adults to practice their chess skills. We have chess sets and chess clocks, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them along! All levels of players are welcome, from beginners to expert players. Memberships are completely free. All ages are welcome. Children 8 years old and under need to have a guardian present. We meet Mondays from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.
Checkmate Kids Chess Club offers weekly chess activities led by GM Timur Gareev. Weekly chess activities are grouped by chess skills and levels. Offering multiple groups from the very beginner to expert.

Windsor Park welcomes everyone to play, learn and enjoy community chess. We meet every Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Our focus is to get the Eastside Austin Community interested in sharing this fascinating game. We learn as we play: starting from the basic moves and openings, then transitioning into strategic games. These casual games will lead into many challenges and learning opportunities for all chess players.
Open for everyone, children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Boards are provided, but you may bring your own.
The chess club takes place in the library’s meeting room, so if the library is closed, we will not meet. Please refer to the Austin Public Library holiday schedule

Looking for a place to meet other chess players? Try out a new opening without trashing your rating? Spar with strong chess players of all ages? Eat dinner, relax, and play a game? Look no further than Dobie Mall. Centrally located just south of the UT Campus at the intersection of MLK and Guadalupe, Dobie Mall is a great venue for (relatively) casual chess!
Come up to the 2nd floor, near the old movie theater site and you'll find chessboards, clocks, and great chess players.
Check-in begins before 6:45 and the first round begins at 7:00pm. No registration form required! No preregistration necessary. We play a 5 round G/10 unrated swiss tournament of standard chess. Touch move and other USCF rules apply. 3 second delay. Each player contributes $1 to the 'pot', and all money is redistributed at the end of the tournament to 1st place, 2nd place, and one or more 'under' categories. All players establish a 'Dobie rating' with regular play. No USCF membership is necessary. Bring a chess set and clock, if possible.

Our chess club meets each Wednesday afternoon at the Georgetown Public Library. We welcome all players interested in chess. Join us! Membership is free but you must be a USCF member to play in the rated events.
We have a group of 15-20 regulars who meet weekly at the Georgetown Public Library, Wednesdays from 5:30-8:00. Most are USCF members and our numbers are slowly increasing. Member strength currently ranges from 600 to 1800.
Our tournament calendar is flexible; however, we will run a monthly rated tournament (USCF membership required) usually a 4SS (one game per meeting for four weeks) at a 60/G control beginning the first Wednesday of each month with a nominal EF $2.

Northwest YMCA Friday Chess Club welcomes everyone to play or watch. We meet every Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, but some players stay later or may leave early. The people are very friendly, and the setting is completely informal.

Open for everyone. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. We have several small boards and sets, but more advanced players may want to bring their own.

The Northwest Recreation Center is located near the intersection of MoPac and Northland Drive (aka Koenig, FM 2222). It is located on the South side of Northland: the parking entrance is a right-hand turn at the second light after going under the MoPac underpass heading East. There is plenty of parking on site - parking is also allowed in the large church lot just to the West.
This club will NOT be managed by the recreation center staff. They expect the area chess community to provide structure and direction.

Spicewood Springs Library Chess Club currently has group chess instruction from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. These follow the club open sessions. There are no fees for either instruction or for open play.

We meet on Saturdays from 3-6pm and welcome chess players of all ages. We do focus on youth programming.
Our goal is for the members of the club to have fun through chess. We try to teach as much as we can in conjunction to this. Each week we spend time on at least three of the following activities: solving puzzles, free play, lectures, discuss grandmaster games, analyze our past games as a group, team solitaire chess, simultaneous exhibitions, instruction, team chess, discuss openings, and discuss endings.
