You are invited by the UT Chess Club to participate in a Simul with GM Ruifeng Li! $5 entry for the general public, free for UT students. Advance entry requested. Limited to the first 30 entries. Public spectators welcome.
Who: GM Ruifeng Li is currently a coach for The University of Texas at Austin. After becoming a chess Grandmaster in 2017, he won the National Open once, the North American Open twice, and the Philadelphia Open twice, along with many other events.
At his best, he ranked 14th in the US and around 300th in the world. After graduating from UT Austin in 2024 with a Finance degree, Ruifeng continues to employ his chess skills in private lessons and bughouse games.
What: A simul is where one player (GM Ruifeng) plays multiple games at once against numerous other players (you). Ruifeng will move from board to board to make ONE move at each board
Entry Fee: Free for UT Students. $5 for non-UT students. Payable through Venmo @nguyen_dang or Cash at the door.
Only make your move when Ruifeng is in front of you
You get 2 “passes.” After you have used up your passes, you must make a move
There will be free Chess.com merchandise for all participants while supplies last. Others are more than welcome to spectate and watch Ruifeng destroy some casuals!

Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. The event has the potential to run late. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. One round may last upwards of 4 hours.
Last chance registration happens onsite 3:00-3:45pm on October 12th. No pre-registration for round 1 is necessary. Email pre-registration is accepted; however, online payment is preferred! If you email to register, you must show up and pay no later than 3:45pm! First round begins at 4pm. Please be on time! Participants who wish to enter the tournament late may email Austin Chess Club.
