ACC USCF Quick-rated G/24 Swiss

A one-day tournament on January 11th offering G/24 with 5 sec. delay per move. 4 Round Swiss. Sections dependent on turnout. EF: $15.00 all. USCF membership required.  Online registration and payment suggested.

Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. We suggest that scholastic players have reached a rating of 400 before participating.  USCF membership must not expire before January 31, 2025. Please renew with the USCF (https://new.uschess.org/) before coming to the event.

We would like to start on-time. Please arrive early. Entries must be received and paid in full by 3:45pm.  Online entry preferred.

Cost is $15/player. We would like the first round to begin at 4:00pm sharp. Doors open at 3:00pm, so please arrive early. Follow the signs to our meeting areas.

Please bring a set and a board. We look forward to seeing you!

2024-25 Texas Scholastic Online Quick Open Chess Championships

USCF rated ONLINE 6 round swiss chess tournament on January 11, 2025, sponsored by the Texas Chess Association. Time control is G/15 with a 2 second increment. The event will be played on Chess.com

The top Texas player in each section will be recognized as the Texas Champion.

Prizes
Top 8 individuals and top 3 teams in each section will receive personalized plaques.  Number of plaques awarded may increase based on the number of participants.

Fair Play
US Chess Rating Report will be submitted after the Fair Play review is completed.  Chess.com’s decision is final. Awards will be mailed after this review is complete.

Austin Chess Tour 2: Junior Qualifier #1

Leander Winter 2025 Scholastic Tournament

No parents allowed in the playing room.

Parents and players that are done with their game should remain at the main library building. Only drinks allowed in the playing hall. Food must be consumed outside.

Simul with GM Ruifeng Li

You are invited by the UT Chess Club to participate in a  Simul with GM Ruifeng Li!  $5 entry for the general public, free for UT students. Advance entry requested. Limited to the first 30 entries.  Public spectators welcome.

Who: GM Ruifeng Li is currently a coach for The University of Texas at Austin. After becoming a chess Grandmaster in 2017, he won the National Open once, the North American Open twice, and the Philadelphia Open twice, along with many other events.

At his best, he ranked 14th in the US and around 300th in the world. After graduating from UT Austin in 2024 with a Finance degree, Ruifeng continues to employ his chess skills in private lessons and bughouse games.

What: A simul is where one player (GM Ruifeng) plays multiple games at once against numerous other players (you). Ruifeng will move from board to board to make ONE move at each board

Entry Fee: Free for UT Students. $5 for non-UT students. Payable through Venmo @nguyen_dang or Cash at the door.
